Is there anything better than enjoying a sunny day and a delicious meal from a shaded patio? How about a rooftop deck overlooking the town?
As the temperatures start to rise, Idahoans naturally tend to head outdoors to soak up the sun and enjoy the fresh air. With plenty of outdoor dining options across the state, we’ve dug up a few extra-special gems for you to try this spring!. But while you won't find any 25th floor penthouses or VIP lounges here in humble Idaho, the Gem State does have a few neighborhood restaurants with some rather fantastic deck options.
1. Tavern at Bown Crossing, Boise
Boise's treasured Bown Crossing district is suburban life-meets small-town neighborhood life. The Tavern at Bown Crossing is a long-standing gem that just recently added another restaurant to their arsenal: the Owyhee Tavern. But here in this little sub-neighorhood, in addition to the prime people-watching street-side patio the tavern has out front, it also has a sprawling, all-too-overlooked rooftop patio witha full cantina-style bar.
Address: 3111 S Bown Way, Boise, ID 83706
2. Reef, Boise
Well-known for its year-round tiki parties and live music, the fun, casual vibe of the Reef's tropical atmosphere is kicked up a notch when you thrown in spectacular views of downtown Boise...mini drink umbrellas and tiki torches included.
Address: 105 S 6th St. Boise, ID 83702
3. Warfield Distillery and Brewery, Ketchum
A little more upscale than your average brewery, Warfield has a charming Sun Valley vibe, top-notch cuisine (skillet octopus and potato risotto, anyone?), and a killer view from the rooftop patio. Drink in the valley while you drink a few other classy creations made in-house. Bonus points for the lovely fire pit!
Address: 280 N Main St. Ketchum, ID 83340
4. Barbacoa, Boise
A true treat for the senses, Barbacoa has already won our hearts as a stylish restaurant with epic decor, specializing in Latin American cuisine that explodes with flavor. During the warmer months, guests can choose to dine inside, which is adorned with deep, rich colors, art, and decorative items, or the beautiful outdoors for a lovely, breezy experience. But while their patio seating (multiple fireplaces included) is awesome, the roof is where it's at. Officially named the Luna Bar, Barbacoa's rooftop seating area boasts wonderful views of Tablerock and the Parkcenter Pond--not to mention colorful sunsets!
Address: 276 Bobwhite Ct. Boise, ID 83706
5. Big Hole BBQ, Victor
Labeled one of the best BBQ havens in the Northwest, Big Hole is loved for its epic buns, succulent meats, and finger-lickin' desserts. Enjoying the best BBQ of your life on a rooftop deck, gazing at the Tetons in the distance? Priceless.
