Everyone loves a fresh slice of tangy, crispy, piled-high-with-everything pizza, whether it be at a hip Italian bistro or straight out of the delivery box. There's just something indescribably perfect about the combination of hot toppings, bubbly pizza dough, and dripping cheese that makes every Idahoan's mouth faint in happiness. But forget bland, mass-produced pizzas from a national chain - Idaho has some simply incredible pie and slice options that will rock your cheese-loving world with their fresh ingredients, blazing hot oven preparation, and handmade touches.
That being said... Idahoans are also very particular (and polarized) when it comes to food of any kind, and loyalty here is through the roof. Even when it comes to pizza. So, without further ado and in no particular order, here are the best pizzerias in Idaho.
1. Enoteca, Ketchum
Despite serving up more than just Italian-inspired fare, Enoteca is something particularly special when it comes to pizza. Urban, modern, and eclectic, Enoteca's bubbly, wood oven-fired pizzas, slightly charred with 850-degrees of Italian awesomeness will blow you mind. Be sure to get a little crazy with your toppings! The Mercantile is a crowd favorite.
2. Proto's Pizza, Boise
Editor's Note: As of January 2021, Proto's Pizza has permanently closed.A hidden gem snug in the middle of Boise's downtown bar scene, Proto's offers delightfully crispy, thin-crust, artisanal pies served straight from the brick oven. With slightly sweet, honey-baked crusts that are to die for, our suggestion is to try the house sweet and spicy sauce to add a little kick!
3. Wildlife Brewing & Pizza, Victor
Wildlife Brewing and Pizza is just another addition to what is already a proliferation of incredible food in small town Victor. Serving thin, fresh, and crispy pies with a smooth, homemade sauce that enhances and brings out the natural flavor of every topping, diners have labeled Wildlife Brewing a "Wydaho institution" with East Coast quality. Our suggestion: make room for the Jamaican BBQ!
6. Last Frontier Pizza Compay, Moscow
Editor's Note: As of January 2021, Last Frontier Pizza Company has permanently closed.Inspired, classic, and homestyle pies are the star of Last Frontier, and you can't beat the perfect ratio of sauce to cheese to toppings. It's an art.
4. Old Ice House PIzzeria and Bakery, Hope
This unassuming diamond in cozy Hope, ID bakes up every item on the menu from scratch, including their out of this world house pizzas. But as any diner will tell you, the only thing better than the pizza is the view! Overlooking the Pend Oreille from a rustic upstairs patio has never been more incredible than when viewed from over bubbling, perfectly seasoned, garden-fresh pie.
5. Pepe Caldo Pizzeria, Coeur d'Alene
When your pizzeria has a perfect five-star rating, there isn't much left to say. Pepe Caldo's pies are delicious, huge, unique, and out of this world fresh with every level of spiciness one could ask for. Enough said.
7. Babs' Pizzeria, Sandpoint
Babs' New York style pizzas are served with just a touch of Idaho and a lot of small town love baked in. There's a reason this pizzeria was ranked the best in Bonner County! Our recommendation: the White Garlic Chicken. YUM!
8. Tony's Pizzeria Teatro, Boise
Tony's serves authentic, fresh, and flavorful gourmet pizzas that taste straight from the Napoli oven. Perfectly crisp and chewy with a slight char and glazed with delicious Roma tomato sauce, all melded under a symphony of exceptional, perfectly balanced toppings, Tony's knows the way to any pizza-lover's heart.
9. Fire Artisan Pizza, CdA
For a local favorite, this is one pizza joint that always seems to top lists. Trendy, out-of-the-box, and always on-point with the perfect balance of toppings, crust, and creative twists, you'll find everything to love about Italian pies here. Fig pizza with balsamic reduction, anyone?
