Malasadas — fluffy Portuguese doughnuts without a hole — are wildly popular throughout the Hawaiian Islands. A crispy golden brown exterior gives way to a soft and chewy inside in flavors like cinnamon sugar; some malasadas are even filled with custard, haupia, lilikoi, and guava. And while many argue that Leonard’s Bakery — the shop that made us fall in love with malasadas — is the best, there are countless other bakeries across the islands that do this magnificent treat justice, including this bakeshop and creamery that is now shipping its scrumptious malasadas nationwide.
Whether you’ve had to postpone your much-anticipated trip to Hawaii due to COVID-19 or are daydreaming about all things full of carbs and sugar, you’ll love hearing that Oahu’s own Pipeline Bakeshop and Creamery is delivering its mouthwatering malasadas to the mainland via Goldbelly.
The Kaimuki Bakery launched its online store in December 2019 for the Christmas season, selling its made-from-scratch malasadas, cake bombs, and giant cookies to customers across the United States.
With the spread of COVID-19 and a mandatory quarantine for anyone entering the Aloha State, the bakery has seen orders on the rise from customers craving these sugary, doughy Portuguese doughnuts — from California to New York.
The bakery ships out orders to the mainland every Tuesday and Wednesday, and their most popular offering is a dozen malasadas, which costs $49 for a dozen including overnight shipping.
Serious sugar cravings can be fixed with the Best of Pipeline Gift Box, which includes six malasadas in five flavors (original, coffee, cocoa, cinnamon, and li hing), four 3-inch cake bombs (lemon, chocolate-hazelnut, strawberry guava, and Fruity Pebbles), and four monster cookies in four different flavors, including the shop’s popular Avery & Molly variety — cookies-and-cream cookie dough with brownies and marshmallows.
If you’re local, Pipeline Bakeshop and Creamery is open five days a week and takes online orders for curbside pick-up, only allowing one customer at a time into the bakery, with a mask of course.
No matter how you get your hands on these tasty treats, you can consider your taste buds satisfied with the malasadas and other sweet indulgences from Pipeline Bakeshop & Creamery.
Pipeline Bakeshop & Creamery is currently open Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. They are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Online orders will be prioritized over walk-in orders and phone ordering is currently unavailable. To place an order — whether for curbside pickup or delivery to the mainland — visit their website.
