As the most isolated population center on earth and a true melting pot of cultures, the Hawaiian Islands are home to some of the world’s greatest cuisine. But in order to taste some of most mouthwatering food Hawaii has to offer, you must be willing to leave the resort areas and check out local hole in the wall joints. And while there are countless unassuming restaurants found across the Hawaiian Islands we love, this little cafe might just be one of our favorites.
Welcome to 808 Grindz Cafe, an unassuming eatery that serves up some of the most mouthwatering local food around.
With locations in Lahaina and Kona, this local, family-owned and operated restaurant boasts affordable prices, a casual atmosphere, and an extensive variety of scrumptious dishes that will make your breakfast or lunch shine.
With a menu sure to satisfy the entire family, 808 Grindz is an ideal spot to fuel up before a long day of exploring all that our beautiful islands have to offer.
Anyone with a sweet tooth will love their pancakes. Macadamia nut, coconut, blueberry, chocolate chip, and banana pancakes can all be slathered in homemade macadamia nut vanilla or coconut sauce for a truly melt-in-your-mouth breakfast experience.
Or, for an extra-special meal, try any of their specialty pancakes, including hazelnut and Nutella, s’mores, maple bacon and macadamia nut, and red velvet. Their rainbow sweetbread french toast and fluffy waffles are also excellent.
If you prefer savory to sweet and meat to carbs, check out their mouthwatering loco mocos — made with everything from steak, Spam, and pork chop to Portuguese sausage, short rib, and corned beef.
More than half a dozen creative benedicts with everything from kalua pork to crab cakes — as well as omelets, classic breakfast sides, fried rice, and breakfast burritos — round out the menu at 808 Grindz.
The best part? Most meals ring up at less than $10 with the most expensive menu item costing just $15 for an 8-ounce grilled steak with three eggs, your choice of meat, waffle with sauce, and either rice, hash, or potatoes. Now, that's a lot of food!
So, what are you waiting for? Don't judge this restaurant by its cover: with local artwork and homemade meals sure to satisfy your taste buds, it doesn't get much better than 808 Grindz.
