I'll be the first to admit it: I'm not really a huge drinker, and while I'll occasionally imbibe alcohol, I generally avoid it. However, serve up some wine in slushie form and I'll have trouble saying no. Summer in Georgia is famously hot and muggy. Between the humidity and the mosquitoes, it can be pretty hard to spend much time outdoors, unless you're armed with something cold, like an ice cream cone or slushie... alcoholic or otherwise. Wine slushies combine the icy fun of summer as a kid with the buzz of an adult beverage, and few places are better to pick one up on a warm day than Sweet Acres Farm Winery, a family-owned winery in Alto, GA, a tiny town in North Georgia. Check this place out:
Sweet Acres Farm Winery is a husband-and-wife-run farm that was the first winery in Hall County. It's located in Alto, a small town just outside of Gainesville.
The farm specializes in old-school fruit wines made with locally-procured produce.
Whether you stay inside and enjoy the down-home, rustic feel of the place or sit on a rocking chair enjoying the breeze on the front porch, tasting the wines produced here is quite the experience.
Visit on a hot day and you'll find it even more enjoyable, though, because Sweet Acres Farm Winery is home to an array of amazing wine slushies.
A lot of wineries have an elegant, classy feel that can almost come off as a bit stuffy, but that's not the vibe you'll experience here. This place feels so homey, and the slushies are the perfect way to cool off on a hot spring or summer day.
Next time you're in the mood for some fruity adult treats, pay a visit to this small winery in Alto, GA.
