1. Aubri Lane's—Milledgeville, GA 31061

What's interesting about this local gem, is at first sight, you wouldn't know what the heck it was. It's very unassuming on the outside but boasts some HUGE flavors on the inside. Besides the beautiful ambiance, you'll also be welcomed by delicious eats like the BBQ shrimp and grits and blackened tilapia.

2. The Red Eyed Mule—Marietta, GA 30060

3. Bleu House —Norcross, GA 30071

You may have never heard about Bleu House Cafe, and we think it's high time you did. This family-owned-and-operated spot is as zen as they come, and probably one of the most underrated lunch spots in the area. Get a sandwich, get a salad, get a slice of the specialty quiche. You can't go wrong with any of them.

4. Matthews Cafeteria—Tucker, GA 30084

From the outside, Matthew's Cafeteria looks like any other regular dining establishment. But once you get inside, everything changes. Not only do the scent of fresh baked goods and fried chicken waft through the air, but it's also the type of no-frills eatery that everybody likes to visit when they're in need of delicious food.

5. Dovetail—Macon, GA 31201

Many people that visit The Rookery, stumble upon Dovetail upstairs. Then they happily become fans. With good reason, too. Dovetail does a great job sourcing their food locally, not to mention cooking with fresh, seasonal ingredients. If you can, order the orzo mac-n-cheese. YUM.

6. The Farmhouse at Waterfall Club—Clayton, GA 30525

Step one, make a reservation. Step two, find the restaurant. Step three, devour their incredible food. Step four, write to OnlyInYourState Georgia and say thank you for introducing you to one of the best restaurants in Clayton! What was once called The Farmhouse at Permission Creek is now known as The Farmhouse at Waterfall Club. It's a new location, but the same delicious dining.

7. Sugar Hill Cafe and Bakery— Sugar Hill, GA 30518

You'll go for breakfast and end up staying for dessert. The decor is beyond fabulous, reminiscent of an old bohemian tea house. But those bakery items...SWOON. Out-of-this-world flavor. Each and every one of them.

10. Walden’s—Covington, GA 30014

Everyone raves about the catfish. EVERYONE. Why? Because it's tender and flaky inside, but crisp and flavorful on the outside. Snag yourself a four-piece catfish fillet with fries and you can thank us later. Or you can always settle on the succulent pulled pork sandwich. It's a win-win either way.

11. Gumbeaux’s Cajun Cafe—6712 Broad St, Douglasville, GA 30134

This spot is little known to many people outside of Douglasville, but really within the town, everyone knows this is the best Cajun cuisine outside the state of Louisiana. It's the perfect spot to grab an iced cold sweet tea, a seafood chowder, and a shrimp étouffée. It's spicy, but it's sensational.
