With spring in full effect and summer just around the corner, it's time to enjoy the abundant sunshine while chowing down on copious amounts of scrumptious street grub. You'll find dozens of one-of-a-kind units in and around the metro area, posted up on street corners or at breweries, festivals, and city events, serving up pretty much any little thing your heart (and taste buds) could possibly desire. Don't get stuck eating leftovers at your desk out of a tupperware. Track down these Mile High mobile operations (aka the best food trucks in Denver) and get your fill! You can find their schedules online, or better yet, hire them yourself for parties, weddings, or corporate events. Chow Bella!
1. Jessie's Smokin' NOLA
You don't have to get down to the bayou to get a taste of authentic cajun and New Orleans cuisine. Thanks to the good folks over at Jessie's, Denverites can devour po-boys, gumbo, jambalaya, fried seafood platters, and even muffalettas, to their heart's content. Let the good times roll you on over to Jessie's ode to the Big Easy...and they're definitely going to have to roll you outta there!
2. Manna from Heaven
Known for their phenomenal, non-traditional award-winning banh mi and other Vietnamese-inspired dishes, the chefs over at Manna offer a menu that changes daily to "keep your mouth guessing" and your palette from experiencing "food-burnout." Try their daily varietal manna, and you may just become a bonafide "Mannae-ack!"
3. The Cluck Truck
Delectably crispy, juicy hand-breaded fried chicken, perfectly spiced homemade french fries, and fried mac 'n cheese balls with a plethora of sauces!? That's enough to make me shut the cluck up and track down the Cluck Truck!
4. Hamburghini
If more mouthwatering meaty, juicy goodness is what you're after, head down to Hamburghini and load up on burgers, brisket, garlic fries, and gouda mac 'n cheese. They're the ultimate go-to food truck for excellent burgers and customer service to match.
5. WongWayVeg
Time for a change of (carnivore) food truck speed? WongWayVeg is dishing out high-quality, innovative vegetarian and vegan street food made with fresh, local and seasonal ingredients that'll satisfy veggies and foodies alike. They've got an ever-changing menu of scratch-made vegetarian and vegan fare that'll make you forget all about how much you love beef and bacon.
6. Quiero Arepas
Another mobile operation that clearly stands out from the crowd is Quiero Arepas, serving up authentic Venezuelan-style arepas made with local, all natural, 100% gluten-free ingredients. And they get extra points for having a low emission vehicle that's powered by natural gas, as well as maintaining as close to a zero waste policy as possible. Trust me, you won't even miss your lids, straws, plates, side cups, and utensils. Waste? Who needs it?
7. Basic Kneads Pizza
These guys currently have four mobile units satisfying the Basic Kneads of the people of Denver with their hand-tossed, wood fired pizzas on their perfectly crispy secret-ingredient-filled, family-recipe crust. They've got traditionally topped pies like margherita or pepperoni, as well as specialities such as buffalo chicken or thai chili chicken that's sure to excite your taste buds. Go on and fire it up!
8. Corner of Gourmet
This family-owned food truck is dishing out some of the most fresh, made-from-scratch street food in town, using only organic produce selected weekly from local growers and purveyors. From their signature reuben roll and their black bean tacos (which are vegetarian and gluten free), Corner of Gourmet has something delicious to satiate every appetite!
9. PinkTank
Another mobile Mile High family-owned operation is PinkTank, which specializes in chicken & waffles, as well as unique twists on dogs, burgers, and then some. I'm talking caramel bacon bread pudding, an eggs benedict burger with bacon hollandaise on a croissant, and the famed F Bomb (a bacon wrapped hot dog, deep fried and served on french toast, with a scrambled egg and syrup on the side). I'll definitely be (Pink)Tanked after all that goodness!
10. Hey PB&J
Innovative grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches created by a highly trained professional chef? Yes, please! Maybe Nutella Banana? Or perhaps the Boss Hog with mo’ pecan-peanut butter, 9-hour pulled pork, whiskey-peach jam, homemade bacon jam, and crushed potato chips? No wait, what about the Blueberry Pie with fresh almond butter, homemade blueberry jam, baked pie crust, and clover honey? Guess I'm just going to have to try them all...fill 'er up! (And be sure to check out their new brother food truck, Meatball.)
Well, I'm now pretty much foaming at the mouth. What do you think are the best food trucks in Denver? Let us know your favorites in the comments!
