I've said it before: Delaware is a foodie's paradise. With all sorts of cuisines and an atmosphere to fit any diner's tastes, the Diamond State is a great place to grab a meal. All year, we've shared the best, most interesting and unique restaurants in Delaware, hoping to show off the gems that our little state has to share with the world. Now, they're all in one place for you to enjoy! So, without further ado, here's a compilation of the restaurants we loved enough to feature in 2016. Make your Delaware Restaurant Bucket List and have at it in the new year!

1. The Small Town Spot: The Backyard, Milton.

This small town restaurant located at 211 Broadkill Rd, Milton is the best place to go when the weather is nice! Yard games and back patio seating make this a unique spot to enjoy a meal. Their bakery is among the best in the state, too, so don't leave without trying dessert.

2. The Best Kept Secret: C.R. Hummingbird To Mars

You'll need a password to get into speakeasy-style joint in Trolley Square, but once you've made it, you're in for the night of your life. With creative cocktails and food to die for, a night at Hummingbird is a night you won't forget. If the lantern is lit at W 16th St, Wilmington, they're open.

3. The Tiny Wonder: Helen's Sausage House

Don't pass this place on your way down Route 13! This little sandwich spot is famous for their homemade sausage, and it's always crowded! It's a great spot to stop for lunch. Don't be turned off by the crowd and long lines, it moves quickly, and you'll soon be in sausage heaven. Stop by 4866 N Dupont Hwy (Route 13) to see for yourself

4. The Escape From It All: Krazy Kat's

You don't need to go to Paris for gourmet french food - just plan a night out at Krazy Kat's in Montchanin. Even better, book a room at the attached Inn and have a romantic getaway that you won't soon forget. Travel to 528 Montchanin Rd, Montchanin for the full experience.

5. The Waterfront Pub: Irish Eyes

Watch the game with a view of the water at Irish Eyes in Lewes, Delaware. They serve excellent traditional irish dishes alongside standard American pub fare, and the views of the Rehoboth-Lewes Canal are breathtaking, particularly at sunset. Stop by 213 Anglers Rd, Lewes.

6. The Regal Experience: The Green Room at Hotel DuPont

Delaware's finest gourmet restaurant is in Rodney Square at the Hotel DuPont (42 W 11th St, Wilmington). The Green Room's 1920s decor and world-renowned food will make you feel like royalty for the night. Whatever you do, save room for some of their famous macaroons.

7. The Rural Experience: Boondocks

Yes, the best crabhouse in Delaware is in the middle of a cornfield on the outskirts of Smyrna (at 825 Lighthouse Rd, Smyrna to be exact). If you haven't been there, get a group together for a rowdy night out! Make new friends, crack some crabs, and drink a regrettable amount of their oh too familiar Swamp Water drink.

8. The Oldest Restaurant: Kelly's Logan House

Believe it or not, Kelly's in Trolley Square is the oldest continually running Irish Pub in the country! It started serving weary travelers in 1864 and is now one of the livliest spots in Wilmington on a Saturday night. Their pub fare is a step above the rest, with the cheese board being an unexpected treat. Enjoy the history at 1701 Delaware Ave, Wilmington

9. The Breakfast Stop: Wilson's General Store

Is Wilson's technically a restaurant? Probably not, but I don't really care, because you won't find a better breakfast sandwich in Delaware than the one you'll pick up when you stop into Jim Wilson's family-owned store. Grab a coffee and a scrapple sandwich (or even a gun, you know, because they sell those too) and make your morning that much brighter. Stop in and be sure to say hi to Jiim and family: 24739 Springfield Rd, Georgetown.

10. The Ride To Dine: Wilmington and Western Railroad

The Wilmington and Western Railroad has ride-to-dine trains that make for an amazing Delaware restaurant experience! Hop on board and head to Hockessin, where you'll dine at the Back Burner restaurant and enjoy a gourmet meal. Appetizers on the train will whet your appetite and the meal and ticket go for a combined price. All aboard at 2201 Newport Gap Pike, Wilmington (Reservations are required.)

10. The Unexpected: Blue Moon

Stop in to this Rehoboth Beach landmark to enjoy gourmet dishes like shrimp and squid ink pasta, or their famous fried green tomatoes. Like many RB restaurants, the food at Blue Moon will leave your tastebuds happy and leave you wanting to return. Where they kick it up a notch, though, is in the live entertainment. Just go - you will have the time of your life. Join the party at 35 Baltimore Ave Rehoboth Beach

12. The Time Machine: Jessop's Tavern

Travel back in time to the colonial days at Jessops Tavern in New Castle! With colonial food and colonial wait staff, they really get the experience right. The building itself is over 300 years old, and as you enjoy your tomato bisque or other traditional early American food, you might find yourself imagining all the history these bricks have seen. Find them at 114 Delaware Street, New Castle.
