Southern Delaware is full of farms and barns, and one charming farmstead has turned its efforts to one of our favorite harvests: wine! In 2005, Chuck and Chris Nunan decided to turn their home-based wine making business into a gorgeous vineyard, based on a farm along the Mason Dixon line.
Harvest Ridge Winery is located at 447 Westville Road, Marydel, DE 19964
Right now, the vines lay dormant in the chilly winter...
...but soon, they'll be budding with varieties of grapes that will become tasty wine.
The pretty farm features acres of gorgeous property, and even a cornerstone of the Mason-Dixon line.
The climate and soil of southern Delaware is actually similar to Bordeaux, which makes it perfect for growing aromatic wines.
The winery offers tastings every day of the week, with sweet, dry, and varied flights.
Feel free to bring a picnic lunch for your tasting, or purchase some cheese and small bites from the vineyard.
All year long, Harvest Ridge hosts food truck events where you can try tasty local food along with your wines.
If you're not a wine drinker, the attached Rebel Seed brews delicious ciders.
No matter what time of year you visit, Harvest Ridge is a wonderful place to sample the region's best wines.
The vineyard is open seven days a week. You can visit Sunday through Thursday from 12-5 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 12-8 p.m. It's one of the finest vineyards in the state! If you'd like to try more, check out our list of The 3 Beautiful Wineries In Delaware That Are A Must See For Everyone.
