Tiny Delaware has no shortage of good restaurants, but sometimes the dining experience isn't just about the food; it's about the atmosphere. Here are 10 cool places to eat in Delaware that we think really take the cake when it comes to unforgettable ambiance, from the classy to the sassy and everything in between.
1. Saint Georges Country Store - Saint Georges
From the outside, this restaurant looks like an old general store, but step inside and it's like Mardi Gras every day. Featuring delicious Cajun food and live music, this is surely an undiscovered place. Keep an eye out for special events.
2. Red Square Caviar Bar - Rehoboth Beach
Located on the main drag in Rehoboth Beach, many people walk right on by this place. Step inside for Delaware's largest vodka selection and a huge assortment of caviar, along with other traditional Russian fare.
3. Ali Baba Mid Eastern Restaurant - Newark
One of only a handful of places in Delaware with tasty Mediterranean food, Ali Baba's decor will make you think you stepped into a sultan's home. There's a hookah bar in front and comfy low seating in the main dining room. Look out for special events featuring belly dancers.
4. Boondocks Restaurant - Smyrna
In the middle of fields east of Smyrna, this restaurant is known for its seafood, but even more so for its fun decor. There's a (non-working) outhouse in the center dining room and bras hanging from the bathroom ceiling. Be sure to order a "Swamp Water," but only if you have a designated driver.
5. The Melting Pot - Wilmington
Nothing says romance like dipping fruit in chocolate or meat into boiling oil. The Melting Pot's specialty is fondue in a romantic setting.
6. Crooked Hammock Brewery - Lewes
Crooked Hammock Brewery offers its own craft beer and good eats with an outdoor area featuring - you guessed it - hammocks. There are lawn games, picnic tables, and a playground for the kids.

If you've ever driven on I-95 in Delaware and seen a big, blue EAT sign, that's Border Cafe. This northern Delaware spot offers up a mix of Cajun, Creole, and Tex-Mex food in an ambiance that makes you feel like you're in a tiny border town down south.
8. Blue Moon - Rehoboth Beach

Please note, Lewinsky's on Clinton is no longer in business.(snicker) With perhaps the best name on this list, this restaurant pays homage to the famous blue dress and all the people who made it famous. The scratch-made pastrami is just as good as the hilarious decorations in the bathroom.

We had to pick at least one place in Delaware where you can eat with a waterfront view. This one has a great tiki bar and dock space if you want to head to Harpoon Hanna's on your boat.
