1. O'Rourke's Diner, Middletown
Don't be put off by the tiny space occupied by O'Rourke's Diner, it puts out some big flavors. The menu is traditional diner food with an Irish twist. The breakfast menu is over four pages long and it has so many choices that your mouth will be watering before you even order. The lunch menu is slightly smaller with a good selection of specialty sandwiches, burgers, dogs and Reubens.
The most interesting thing on the menu is undoubtedly Brian's Breakfast. It is not always the same and you can't ask what is in it - the server's don't know until they bring it to you. Pictured above and below, you can see that Brian, owner and chef, puts a lot of attention into this special breakfast no matter what ingredients he uses.

2. Valencia Luncheria, Norwalk
Valenchia Luncheria specializes in Venezuelan dining with eye-catching presentations and deep ethnic flavors. It has a cute outdoor seating area and modern casual interior.
When visiting the Valencia Luncheria, many patrons are there get the most delightful empanadas and arepas that this restaurant is well known for. An arepas is a handmade corn cake that is fried or skillet roasted and filled with toppings. It is a perfect bite - pictured above is the domingo arepas stuffed with spinach, bacon, onion and queso.
You will definitely want to save room for dessert because they are all homemade and delicious. The coconut rum tres leches cake sitting on top of fresh bananas has a perfect flavor combination to end your meal. 3. Super Duper Weenie, Fairfield
This restaurant may have a funny name but it serves brag-worthy hot dogs that are fantastic enough to earn their way onto national television. The unique signature dogs along with friendly and cheerful service keeps customers coming back again and again.
The hot dogs are split down the middle and grilled then topped with homemade relish and other succulent toppings. The New Englander dog pictured above is topped with sauerkraut, mustard, relish, bacon and raw onion - it is one of the most popular dishes at the restaurant.
Super Duper Weenie also has a variety of sausages on their menu, like the chicken fennel sausage with onions and peppers pictured above. Located right off of Route 95, Super Duper Weenie is a great place to stop when travelling through Connecticut. It can be found at 306 Black Rock Tpke., Fairfield, CT.
4. Black Duck Cafe, Westport
You can get to the Black Duck Cafe by car, truck, bicycle or boat and once you arrive, you will find the wonderful cuisine that landed this restaurant on Diners, Drive-Ins And Dives. From seafood to stuffed burgers, there is something special for everyone here.
The stuffed burger is more than just a regular cheeseburger. It is juicy and cooked perfectly, but once you take a bite you will realize why these burgers are so famous. The cheese is inside the burger and it is melted and delicious. You can get a stuffed burger with cheddar, blue cheese or brie and they all just ooze out of the center of this amazing bite.
If seafood is more your style, the Black Duck Cafe has mussels, steamers, lobster rolls, fried shrimp and much more. The seafood is fresh and plentiful and always cooked well. This popular restaurant has both indoor and outdoor dining and is located at 605 Riverside Ave., Westport, Connecticut.
5. Corey's Catsup and Mustard, Manchester

Corey's Catsup and Mustard is a restaurant with distinct personality. From its colorful menu to the cheerful atmosphere inside, you will want to visit this burger bar as soon as you can.
Well known for it's distinctive burgers like the bacon and egg burger served on toasty waffles - a great way to wake up your taste buds any time of the day. The selections on the "Burger Heaven" menu offer many different toppings and styles of the American classic.
Corey's Catsup and Mustard also serves sandwiches and lighter fare. The bacon ranch deviled eggs offered are a unique way to start any meal. This famous restaurant of Diners, Drive-Ins And Dives is located at 623 Main St., Manchester, Connecticut.
6. Merritt Canteen, Bridgeport
Serving Connecticut customers for 75 years, the Merritt Canteen offers a variety of true American foods like hot dogs, burgers, fries and seafood. They have more recently added a signature chili to the menu that has quite a kick.
The lunch rush at the Merritt Canteen has customers lined up out the door even on weekdays. Some say it is the spicy chili dogs that bring patrons back repeatedly. The classic food is done consistently and these fully loaded chili dogs are truly a home run.
If you prefer something lighter, the signature salads are quite nice. Pair with some fried macaroni and cheese bites, it can make quite a meal. Longstanding since 1942, you can find this Diners, Drive-Ins And Dives restaurant at 4355 Main St.,
