But we can also stake claim to having the best root beer float around. It is a secret recipe that has been served up for almost 70 years at an iconic drive-in restaurant in Bethel. The Sycamore Drive-In Restaurant has been serving its customer since 1948. There are definitely reasons why this restaurant has stood the test of time and the root beer floats are only one of them.
These famous floats start with cold and sweet Sycamore Old-Fashioned Root Beer. The recipe has been around as long as the drive-in has been open and only a few know the secret. The homemade brew is then topped with hand scooped ice cream.
The interior of the restaurant is adorned with quirky decor including a few old time gas pumps. There is no shortage of photos framed on the walls and toy cars and trucks rest on a high shelf at the top of the dining room,
Chrome edged tables and chairs complete the old school atmosphere that also shows off a black checkered floor. Vintage advertising signs also remind patrons of a time not quite forgotten.
On Saturdays during the summer, the Sycamore Drive-In hosts cruise nights where you can show if your classic car if you happen to have one. Or you can stop in and check out the cars, enjoy food specials and listen to the D.J.

It's usually packed with locals every morning, but there's always room for newcomers. Pay a visit and see why it lives up to its reputation.
Despite its nautical theme, George's Galley is well inland. While it's not a seafood restaurant, this humble local eatery specializes in the kind of hearty food sailors would kick off their day with. It's been serving big plates to the locals since 1978, survived a car accident a few years ago that took out a wall, resulting in a temporary closure, and it isn't slowing down any time soon.

Breakfast is the biggest meal of the day here, and omelets are the signature at George's Galley. There are over a dozen options, including some unusual choices like kielbasa and cheese. Breakfast sandwiches and lighter dishes are also available, so it's a great place to kick off your day. Almost everything is under $10, except a few specialty omelets.

At lunch, the menu shifts to sandwiches, including the restaurant's famous Coney dogs. The price is a huge draw here, as are the big flavors.
