Everybody loves a fabulous restaurant they can visit over and over, and we here at Only in Colorado have a few "must-visits" to recommend. Thanks to you, our awesome readers, we have compiled a list of 15 mouthwatering Colorado restaurants, which include (in no particular order):
1. The Italian Underground (Glenwood Springs)
For the best Italian food outside of--well, Italy--there is no beating the saucy goodness of the Italian Underground.
2. The Fort (Morrison)
Not only does The Fort have fabulous steaks, venison and desserts, they also have an incredible history just waiting to be discovered. (Did you know that the restaurant actually came about in order to fund a family's dream home?)
3. Aly's (La Veta)
Without the recommendation of one of our readers, we would have never known the wonder of Aly's extraordinary menu and their out-of-this-world Oven Roasted Turkey Club (pictured).
4. Sundance Cafe (Nederland)
The best part of waking up isn't the Folgers in your cup... it's both the killer view from the Sundance Cafe and brunch favorites on your plate.
5. Montague's Coffee House (Colorado Springs)
Please note, Montague's Coffee House is no longer in business.
Are you in need of a little mid-morning (or mid-afternoon... or mid-evening) pick-me-up? Lucky for you, there's such a place as Montague's and such a thing as Cappucino and Raspberry Crumb Cake.
6. The Buckhorn Exchange (Denver)
A must visit for every Denverite (and Coloradoan in general) is the historic Buckhorn Exchange, which has served the likes of presidents, musicians and other legendary entertainers since 1893.
7. The Fritz (Salida)
What this small sandwich shop lacks in size, it makes up for with its vast menu of tasty favorites. (Pictured are the Mac & Cheese with Bacon, Parmesan, and Provolone; Pork Sesame Pot Stickers with Cilantro Mint Pesto; and Bacon Wrapped Gorgonzola Dates. #OMG.)
8. Butterhorn Bakery & Cafe (Frisco)
Let's just say that there's a reason the Butterhorn Bakery (and their unbelievable french toast) have been voted #1 by TripAdvisor, Urbanspoon and Yelp for the last four years in a row.
9. Daveto's Italian Restaurant (Delta)
When you step one foot into Daveto's, you will think you have left Colorado for Little Italy. (Their authentic and creative foods will have you thinking the same. That pictured masterpiece is their Mexican Pizza Burger.)
10. Starvin Arvin's (Montrose)
What the modest restaurant lacks in frills, it makes up for with its affordable prices, generous portions and cinnamon rolls the size of your face.
11. The Universal (Denver)
The Universal is the perfect name for this universally loved breakfast and lunch spot in the heart of Denver.
12. Taj Mahal (Fort Collins)
The first authentic Indian food I ever tried was from Taj Mahal and I have never looked back. (You won't either after sampling their impressive--and extensive--lunch buffet.)
13. Serious Texas Bar-B-Q (Durango)
One taste of Serious Texas Bar-B-Q's meats and you'll think your taste buds have died and gone to Texas. But don't stress; You're still in Colorado ;)
14. Country Steak-Out (Fort Morgan)
No need to stakeout the perfect steakhouse when there is this Fort Morgan gem. Not a steak fan? No problem! They also serve a variety of breakfast items, salads, chicken and more.
15. Creekside Cafe & Grill (Steamboat Springs)
After a long day on the slopes, nothing beats the outstanding taste and quality of a meal from the Creekside Cafe. (Bonus: They serve award-winning Bloody Mary's.)
