Remember those giant, gooey cinnamon rolls that grandma used to make when you visited? While nothing compared (or still compares) to that homemade goodness, there are other nearly-just-as-good recipes out there to try, like these scrumdiddlyumptious cinnamon rolls that can be found at this truck stop and cafe:
Move over, Cinnabon: the best cinnamon rolls do not come from you (though you are delicious), but from the Johnson's Corner truck stop in Johnstown, Colorado!
Founded in 1952, Johnson's Corner bills itself as being a "Truck Stop, Restaurant, and Travel Plaza (that) is known for our World Famous Cinnamon Rolls, home-style cooking, and authentic Colorado hospitality."
Why cinnamon rolls? The story goes that an original employee used to bake the rolls at home and bring them to work to sell, which quickly got the regulars hooked and wanting more.
Today, more than 15,000 cinnamon rolls are baked each month and can be enjoyed either in-store or in the comfort of your own home (via online sales and to-go orders).
What makes these ordinary pastries anything but? Aside from the texture and taste, the Johnson's Corner rolls come in a variety of flavors, including caramel apple, raspberry cream cheese, and peaches and cream!
Don't worry; if you want the good, old-fashioned regular, they have that, too!
Johnson's Corner is located at 2842 SE Frontage Road in Johnstown and is open 24/7.
