It's safe to say that most people around Cincinnati enjoy a sweet treat, and luckily our city has many delicious options when it comes to dessert, candy, and specialty sweet shops. But there is one new storefront in Over the Rhine that takes sweet indulgences to a whole new level. Quaintrelle Confections has been selling their homemade marshmallows around town for awhile now, but they recently opened up a shop that is truly unique. Their flavored mallows and scrumptious S'more Bar are both as amazing as they sound and are taking over the Cincinnati sweets scene.

Perhaps you've seen the artisan marshmallows that Meggie Kraus, a Cincinnati native, has been creating and selling around town. Well, you can now find her sweet creations in an adorable shop in OTR, that comes complete with its very own S'more bar!

After spending time as an archaeologist, Meggie decided to pursue her other passion — cooking. Lucky for us, she's perfected her art and her passion shows in everything from the ingredients to the beautiful packaging.

When you visit her new shop, you can purchase a bag of marshmallows or order something from the menu to enjoy.

The "mallows" come in a variety of flavors, such as Creamy Peanut Butter, Snickerdoodle, Classic Vanilla, PB & J, Chocolate Chip, Rocky Road, and the seasonal Peppermint. All are gluten-free and are made without corn syrup, preservatives, and include no artificial colors or flavors.

If you order from the menu, you can expect to find a special Crispie treat of the day, several S'more options from the S'more bar, and a few perfectly selected drinks.

The available treats vary, but they are all worth a try. Shown above is the Ruffle Crispie, drizzled with milk and white chocolate, as well as another scrumptious special.

As a S'more bar, Quaintrelle is really quite unique.

The set up shown above is from a pop up S'more Bar at a different location, but it helps you have an idea of how they are created. At the shop, you can choose from one of the monthly Bar specials and they are roasted and created right in front of you. Pair one with a hot chocolate, topped with another mallow, and you have the perfect sweet indulgence.

The word Quaintrelle means, "A woman who emphasizes a life of passion expressed through personal style, leisurely pastimes, charm, and the cultivation of life's pleasures," so what a perfect way to describe this sweet shop.

There's even more in the works for Quaintrelle Confections. Soon they will offer s'more bar rentals for events, as well as favors. Meggie also plans to offer late night s'mores from a walkup window, which will make it the best place in town for an evening dessert. It's safe to say that the start of this innovative — and delicious — business is the beginning of a treasured Cincinnati dessert destination.
