Boudin Bakery was established in 1849, and today bakes between 12,000-15,000 loaves of bread. Of course there is competition in the city, but Boudin is always associated with sourdough bread. This is a classic spot for sure!
2. Liguria Bakery - 1700 Stockton St, San Francisco, 94133
Little Italy has a lot of history for San Francisco. Liguria Bakery has been baking speciality focaccia since 1911. The flat bread is made from a secret recipe brought over from Genoa, Italy by the original founders! Also, the bread is baked in an ancient brick oven!
3. Schubert's Bakery - 512 Clement St, San Francisco, 94118
Schubert's first opened its doors in 1911, so history is on their side. They are known for artisanal baking methods that the founders had used since opening the shop. Also, adding some new products to the already tremendous selection of baked goods and cakes!
4. Eastern Bakery - 720 Grant Ave, San Francisco, 94108
Opened in 1924, Green Bakery in Chinatown that maintains many long time recipes. The bakery maintains the authenticity of the coffee crunch cake: a sweet sponge cake with mocha cream and toffee crumbles. Indeed, a favorite bakery with a committed following!
5. La Victoria Mexican Bakery - 2937 24th St, San Francisco, 94110
In the past, La Victoria Bakery reflected the Italian/Irish background when the bakery opened over 50 years. Today expect traditional Mexican sweets like conchas and polvoran rosa, which are pink sugar cookies.
6. Garden Bakery - 765 Jackson St, San Francisco, 94133
Garden bakery has been around for over 30 years. If you are looking for the perfect mooncake then this is the best place for you. Also, expect baked pork buns and egg tarts in this Chinese style bakery
7. Golden Gate Bakery - 1029 Grant Ave, San Francisco, 94133
Another longtime bakery in Chinatown with a loyal following and incredible pastries and baked goods. If you are into egg tarts, a kind of custard tart found in Hong Kong and especially here in the city then come here.
8. Stella Pastry/Cafe - 446 Columbus Ave, San Francisco, 94133
Stella Bakery is a classic bakery in Little Italy, North Beach, in the city. Expect delicious cannoli, as well as several other types of Italian pastries. Stella Pastry & Cafe is the home of the Sacrapantina, a multi layered cake of just sponge cake and zabaglione.
