Looking for a change of pace from your regular routine? Instead of heading out to your usual neighborhood haunts, why not head to a hidden Tiki bar instead? Step inside this super-secret watering hole in Southern California and you'll be transported to a dark and cozy island setting where you'll find some of the best drinks on the planet. Here's a closer look at False Idol.
Tucked inside America's Finest City you'll find a hidden Tiki Bar that just may be one of SoCal's coolest places for an unusual and memorable night on the town.
False Idol is located at 675 W. Beech St., San Diego, CA.
When we say hidden, we mean that quite literally as False Idol is hidden behind a secret door inside the restaurant Craft and Commerce. We won't spoil the fun and tell you where the secret door is located because part of the enjoyment is looking for it.
From the moment you step inside, you'll be transported to another world. The decor alone will immediately make you feel like you've encountered a dark and mysterious island in the middle of nowhere.
Make sure to take a close look at the intricate hand-carved wood panels that line most of the walls. These Polynesian-themed panels are the handiwork of Bosco, a local San Diego artist, and they are quite impressive.
While you're seated at the bar, make sure to enjoy the ceiling and check out the decor hanging from above. You'll see a variety of glowing glass lights in many shapes and sizes draped inside fishing nets.
The bartenders at False Idol sure know how to whip up a good drink. The menu is filled with a variety of unique island-themed concoctions that will quench your thirst.
Not only are the drinks quite tasty and exotic at False Idol, but you'll also love the glasses they are served in. And we all know that everything tastes even better when you're sipping it out of a cool cup.
Take a look behind the bar and you might spot a few surprises. In addition to fresh pineapples and lemons, be on the lookout for a skull or two hiding inside a jar.
No matter what type of drink you order, you'll find False Idol to be a great place to enjoy a night out in a unique setting that will give you a nice break from the outside world.
