When you're craving some crazy-good tacos, you'll go anywhere to find them; whether it's a dine-in restaurant or a food truck, it doesn't matter. You just want the best. Tacos are that food you can eat every week and never get tired of. What makes a taco even better? When you don't have to make it yourself. Here are 10 places you can get tacos in Northern California that are out of this world!
1. Don Pisto's 510 Union St., San Francisco, between Bannam Pl & Grant Ave North Beach & Telegraph Hill
Don Pistro's is a little understated with the outside marketing. So, make sure you write down the address above. People around here know exactly where this is - lovely North Beach. These are what you call "Baja Fish Tacos" and they're the bomb! If you haven't tried fish tacos yet then you're definitely missing out. Not only are these babies good for you (grill mine, please) they taste like steak from the ocean.
2. Mercado & Taqueria De Amigos1999 Pescadero Creek Rd., Pescadero
When you go to a gas station and find it moonlights as a restaurant, you know you've hit the jackpot. While this spot may be way humble, it's the talk of Pescadero. Step inside and enjoy farm-fresh ingredients that keep these townsfolk coming back every day. These gems here are carne asada and chorizo tacos. Delicious!
3. El Tonayense Taco Truck Harrison Street & 22nd Street, San Francisco
Do you fear the food truck? You shouldn't. Some of the most delicious tacos come from these rolling restaurants. Here's a shredded beef with salsa verde for you. Yum!
4. Chando's Tacos 863 Arden Way, Sacramento
One customer had this to say, "Fish Taco = Delicous! Chicken taco = excellente. The sauces on the tacos are amazing!" Not sure I can top that.
5. Taco Vallarta1400 D St., Modesto
From the reviews, it sounds like this might be the best taco truck in Modesto. Be ready for a LONG wait. But, the portion sizes are BIG and so is the flavor. Apparently, the woman who works the truck doesn't have the best bedside manner...but we can overlook that when the tacos are AMAZING.
6. La Fiesta Taqueria 1105 Alhambra Blvd., Sacramento
Folsom is a booming city with a deep love of Mexican food second only to their love of tacos. This would be their delicious fish tacos. You know you want some. Admit it...
7. Los Gordos Taqueria 5200 Churn Creek Rd.,Ste L, Redding
I think it says A LOT when a visiting Texan has this to say about our tacos, "I drove past this place the night I flew into Redding for some company training. Being from Texas and all, it's hard to find comparable Mexican food. This place blew my mind! I had the best pastor taco I've ever had in my life!." Enough said, right?
8. Taqueira Sinaloa 2138 International Blvd., Oakland
What are you craving, shrimp, fish, chorizo, pork? This place will feed you well. With two taco trucks PLUS seating, this place ranks an A+!
9. El Favorito Taqueria 10427 Folsom Blvd., Rancho Cordova
This place not only has fantastic tacos, but the establishment is very clean, which is a plus for us moms who want to bring the kids. One person said this, "What can I say other than this little hole in the wall was great. Nothing fancy just killer grub." And, I mean, who can argue with the "killer grub" review?
10. Fiesta Taco 1989 Santa Rita Rd., Ste J, Pleasanton
What you see here are three tacos: Tacos de Carne Asada (Beef Tacos), Tacos de Carnitas and Tacos Al Pastor with onions, cilantro and mild salsa. We're pretty sure these will make you want to come back again and again and again and again. But, don't take our word for it. Stop by yourself and YOU be the judge!
Have you been reading through the BEST TACOS list and thinking, "I'm more of a burrito person, myself"? Then here's a list of some Mexican restaurants in Northern California that will blow your mind!
