From pickle-themed eateries to dining destinations with igloos perched on top, the city of Buffalo has proven itself to be one quirky place to visit when it comes to discovering unique restaurants. Out of all the funky little restaurants that you can find in Buffalo though, there's one that clearly stands out far more than all the rest. Full of vibrant colors, lots of character, history, and amazing food — see why The Tabernacle belongs on your bucket list.
Please note, as of 2021 the Tabernacle is permanently closed.
Right in between the Niagara River and Elmwood Village, on Grant Street, you'll find an eye-catching eatery that's an absolute must-visit.
Right on the corner, with its large striped pillars and electric blue door, The Tabernacle is impossible to miss.
What was once a worship house for the evangelists of Buffalo has become the most vibrant eatery in the entire city, with Jeremy Twiss taking an entire year to paint the interior of this place.
Dating all the way back to 1922, The Tabernacle now operates as a restaurant and bar that's become a favorite place for both locals and out-of-towners to regularly check out.
Throughout the restaurant, you'll find lots of vintage and whimsical details, from old-time lamps to an actual phone booth!
From the floor all the way up to the ceiling, every inch of this place has a story to tell — and you'll love being able to soak it all in.
Due to the fact that this place is also a bar, you can rest assured that you'll have a wonderful selection of drinks and cocktails to choose from.
And even though The Tabernacle doesn't open up until 5 p.m. on the days that they're open, they do offer breakfast all night long — yippee!
