In 1952, Matt and Janie Martinez opened up a scrumptious Mexican restaurant famous for their homemade tortillas. Today, Matt and Janie's daughters and daughter-in-law keep this iconic Austin eatery running like clockwork. Matt's El Rancho can seat over 500 people at their massive restaurant located at 2613 S Lamar Blvd.
2. The Broken Spoke
Known for their country music and chicken-fried steak, The Broken Spoke has been an Austin staple since 1964. Owners James and Annetta White still run the honkey tonk with the help of their whole family. Not much has changed in this joint, and the owners make sure to keep it that way. Twin brothers Michael and Mark Black have barbecue running through their veins. Their father, Terry, passed along all of his pit master secrets to them, so it only makes sense that they named their restaurant after him. Taste the tender, smoky brisket at 1003 Barton Springs Rd.
5. Reale's Pizza and Cafe
After many years of blood, sweat, and tears, the Reale family opened up this delicious Italian restaurant in North Austin. Gino Reale uses his mother's recipes to create the most amazing pizza and lasagna you've ever eaten. 6. Juan in a Million

7. The Omelettry
Dining at The Omelettry will take you back to the days of old Austin. Full of tasty pancakes, satisfying sandwiches and, of course, legendary omelettes, their menu is timeless.
