Lots of restaurants serve great cheeseburgers. Only one restaurant can serve "the best," though. And according to the website Love Food, the best cheeseburger in Arkansas is served at Hugo’s. If you’re familiar with Hugo’s, this news probably isn’t too surprising. And if you’ve never had the pleasure of sampling one of the restaurant’s mouthwatering burgers, this new accolade just gives you a reason to visit.
Nestled in a basement just off Fayetteville Square, Hugo’s is THE place to go for beer, bourbon, and…burgers, of course.
Despite its underground locale, it’s easy to find, thanks to a neon light that acts as a beacon, attracting diners and pointing them in the right direction.
Even without the glow of the neon light, people would still find their way to Hugo’s. Open since 1977, it’s a Fayetteville legend!
One visit and it’s easy to see why Hugo’s has endured all these years. From its quirky flair to its tasty fare, it’s got everything you could want in a hometown dining spot.
Though the menu features a mix of appetizers, entrees, and desserts, it’s the burgers that customers and critics can’t stop raving about.
Most recently, the signature burgers caught the attention of Love Food, which named Hugo’s Bleu Moon Burger “the best cheeseburger in Arkansas.”
The tasty concoction is made by placing a 1/3-pound patty on a griddled bun and topping it with bleu cheese crumbles, lettuce, red onion, and mayo.
The Bleu Moon Burger isn’t the only specialty burger on the menu, though.
There are several others as well as a traditional burger for those who prefer to stick to the basics.
All burgers come with homemade fries, which are nearly as well-known as Hugo’s burgers.
Hugo’s top-sellers also include beer cheese soup and grasshopper crepes.
Almost as impressive as the food selection is the beverage selection. Hugo’s has a full bar with seasonal and craft beers, a tap dedicated to local brews, and an enviable whiskey, scotch, and bourbon offering.
Most every town has an iconic, must-visit eatery. And in the case of Fayetteville, Hugo’s may very well be that eatery!
