The best food is always hidden in a small town, and fried pies are no exception. You'll need to head to the east side of the capitol to reach the town of Hazen, the home of the Hurley House. Let's enjoy our dessert first at this delicious cafe.
The Hurley House is an underrated gem that serves some pretty darn delicious food.
Everyone that comes by loves the Hurley House's home cooked meals. They're located at 1303 Highway 70 E., Hazen, AR 72064.
Their buffet and specials are absolutely mouthwatering, but that's not why we're visiting today.
The farm-raised catfish could easily have its own featured article but we're just focused on dessert.
Their mile-long fried pie menu will make you glad you saved room for dessert.
The Hurley House features about a dozen different fried pie flavors. Stick with a classic like chocolate or cherry, or tease your taste buds with a tangy apricot. At only $2.50 a pie, you might as well try every flavor.
These pies are simply but spectacular.
The pastries are made with just a handful of ingredients and have so many delicious fillings to choose from. You can also pair your pie with a scoop of ice cream, too!
Order a couple to share or just save one for the trip home.
You can join the Hurleys for breakfast, lunch, or dinner every day of the week. For more information and full hours, follow their Facebook Page.

Just a little further northeast of Hazen is the tiny town of Cotton Plant. Cotton Plant happens to be the birthplace of this rock n roll star.
