Arizona is known for its historic restaurants and authentic Mexican cuisine, and Los Olivos Mexican Patio is one of the oldest restaurants in the state. Located in the heart of Scottsdale, this family-run restaurant has been serving delicious Sonoran Mexican delicacies for over seventy years.
In the late 1920s, owner Thomas Corral built a structure intended to operate as a chapel, pool hall, bar, and bakery, but in 1946, it became Los Olivos Mexican Patio.
Thomas Corral and his family left Mexico in 1919 to make Scottsdale their home. Though many people in Scottsdale's history will remember the Corral Family's structure for its many early uses, from 1947 on, Los Olivos quickly became a tradition in the area.
Since 1928 the building has been in the Corral family, and today the second and third generations of the family are still running Los Olivos Mexican Patio.
From an uncle who designed some of the unique architectural elements to cousins, sons, daughters, and more, all helping out in the kitchen and with the day-to-day operations, Los Olivos is a true family affair.
Authentic Sonoran Mexican cuisine is served at Los Olivos Mexican Patio, using family recipes passed down from generation to generation.
The menu includes a variety of Los Olivos classic dishes such as the Los Olivos Fajitas, Huevos a la Mexicana, Pork Tacos, and the Mexican Flag, a specialty dish with three enchiladas topped with red sauce, (white) sour cream, and a green chile sauce. The restaurant also offers freshly rolled flour tortillas for a traditional touch.
With a newly remodeled bar, happy hour at Los Olivos Mexican Patio is not to be missed.
Guests can enjoy a variety of discounted cocktails, beers, and margaritas in the restaurant's cozy atmosphere. Happy Hour at Los Olivos is Monday-Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and with the restaurant's regular live music and unbeatable deals, it's easy to see why this is one of Scottsdale’s favorite places.
Los Olivos' bright decor, traditional Mexican music, and friendly staff make it an ideal spot for a family meal or special occasion.
Traditional decor meshed with an open-air patio-style restaurant makes Los Olivos a unique addition to Old Town Scottsdale. One unexpected feature of the 1920's structure floods a portion of the dining room with vibrant, ocean-blue light and is sure to impress diners who are not familiar with the building.
This architectural phenomenon is a ceiling feature with a bright blue stained-glass effect that floods a portion of the restaurant in light.
The Corral family's vision of creating something special in Scottsdale truly becomes a reality with this awe-inspiring feature. Over 14 blue-stained windows cover the ceiling of one corner of Los Olivos, and the wave-like walls below this iconic feature make you feel like you're in an underwater dining room.
Los Olivos Mexican Patio is one of the oldest and most beloved restaurants in Arizona for a good reason. With its commitment to authenticity, quality ingredients, and timeless Sonoran recipes, it's no wonder that the restaurant has been around for over 70 years and counting.
