Sometimes a taste of home is all you really want. But if you're traveling or not up for the effort it takes to prepare and clean up after a homestyle meal, dining at a mom and pop restaurant is usually the next best thing. Homemade dishes, good flavors, and a smile are all it takes to make you feel right at home. Check out some of the small, family-owned restaurants that are hidden around Arizona.
1. Bill’s Grill, Prescott
Bill’s Grill in Prescott is just the place to visit if you’re craving a juicy burger. They also have quite a few vegetarian options (instead of just a plan veggie burger) for those looking for a meat-free meal.

2. Cafe Daily Fare, Flagstaff
If you drive along the History Route 66 in Flagstaff, be sure to stop by this little restaurant found just off of Milton Road. It’s a perfect replacement for your usual sandwich chain and make sure someone at your table tries out the blackberry duck tacos!

3. Chef Alisah’s Restaurant, Tucson
This family-owned restaurant specializes in Bosnian cuisine, something we don’t see very often in the Southwest! Pictured above is the beef with mushroom sauce, but the Bosnian-style goulash and the surprise plate are also winners!

4. Copper Country Rendezvous, Globe
This little restaurant in downtown Globe serves traditional American meals that you’ll swear your mom prepared. I’ve eaten here for breakfast so be sure to try the Scotch egg or the biscuits and gravy.

5. Miss Fitz 260 Cafe, Payson
If you want to feel like you’re dining at home, this is a great spot to check out. Located along Highway 260 in Payson, Miss Fitz serves traditional American cuisine, has a cozy atmosphere (like you’re in Mom or Grandma’s kitchen), and some scrumptious meals.
Address: 803 E Highway 260, Payson
6. Mojo Cafe, Winslow
This family-owned and operated restaurant is one my favorites when I stop in Winslow for coffee and a snack. They roast their own beans and have a wide variety of coffee, smoothies, and baked goods on premises.

7. Morning Star Cafe, Tempe
This little restaurant is hidden away in an industrial complex and, boy, is it a treat to find! The family-owned business serves breakfast that is simple and inexpensive as well as lunch sandwiches that are top notch!
