Remember the magical feeling as a child of reading or watching Thomas the Tank Engine, that bright blue British train and his ragtag group of train friends? If you miss that and the charm of watching trains as a little kid, then you might want to head over to this unique little restaurant in Flagstaff.
The Crown Railroad Cafe is a restaurant located right along Route 66 in Flagstaff that dates back to the 1960s. A simple, bright neon sign reading “Restaurant” signals you to stop at this roadside diner.
The restaurant maintains a classic diner feel that uses trains to make it stand out from other eateries sitting along the Mother Road. In fact, the restaurant sits right across the street from the railroad tracks, so you can watch the trains head east or west while dining.
Otherwise, murals, toys, memorabilia, and little model trains can be found decorating the Crown Railroad Cafe, a treat for the train lover in your life.
It’s the little models that win over the hearts of visitors though!
While dining, you can watch the 1:22 scaled model trains drive along tracks above your head.
In fact, here’s a quick look at that model train in action!
Pretty cool!
As for the food? It’s delicious! You’ll find standard American fare here, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The meals are also priced to please your wallet and with the hearty servings, you’re sure to leave happy!
The Crown Railroad Cafe is located at 3300 East Route 66 in Flagstaff. You can find more information about operating hours and the menu by visiting their website, thecrownrailroadcafes.com, or on their Facebook page.
