In the small town of Cooper Landing is a tiny little restaurant and lodge called Gwin's Lodge.
Established in 1952 by Pat and Helen Gwin, this restaurant is one of Alaska's original roadhouses. It was erected shortly after the highway was completed in this area.
Gwin's Lodge offers lodging, a full-service bar and restaurant, a tackle and souvenir shop, and an on-site liquor store.
It's a one-stop shop to visit when you're in Cooper Landing. It's also in a great location between the Kenai and Russian Rivers.
After a long day fishing and exploring the nearby forest, lake, and rivers, there's no better place to stop and grab a drink.
They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so whenever you're hungry, join them for a meal. The restaurant menu contains comfort food classics like biscuits and gravy, burgers, reindeer sausage, and Alaska salmon.
There's something for everyone on this incredible menu.
You can find great vegetarian options, Philly cheesesteak, and fried chicken. And don't forget to finish the meal with one of their tasty homemade desserts.
Make sure you grab a seat outside on sunny days in the warmer seasons.
And if you visit during the weekends, you may even have the chance to catch live music. You'll see great acts like Blackwater Railroad, catch the Salmonfest pre-party, or even traveling artists from out of state.
You're in luck if you love the food and experience and can't bear to leave.
Spend the night in one of their rustic cabins. Or book a spot in their campground, where they have space for both tents and RVs.
