Alaskans love coffee, and therefore, Alaska coffee shops. As title holders of "The Most Caffeinated Place In The US," Alaskans love all types of expressions of those lovely beans. Two of our largest cities, Juneau and Anchorage, are the first and second place winners of the most coffee shops per capita. Anchorage has about one coffee shop per every 2500 people, and Juneau holds the record at one coffee shop per 1500 people. What we don't have as many of are gorgeous coffee shops that we want to stay and play in all day. But Seward, Alaska does. Enter the Resurrect Art Coffee House and Gallery!
The Resurrect Art Coffee House and Gallery space was purchased by the newest owner in 2015. It has been a coffee shop since 1993, however.
The owner, Micheley Kowalski, worked hard to create a culture and sense of community in the space. The building itself is celebrating over 100 years, and the updates she has done to it are amazing!
This Alaska coffee shop specializes in craft teas and coffees.
As they also offer complimentary WiFi, this is an excellent place to relax and get work done. Or, just relax with a good book or magazine!
The interior of the old church is spacious, with plenty of seating and cozy nooks and crannies.
The area is also large enough to have a stage that hosts tons of local musicians. They also offer weekly yoga classes, along with a meditation group.
They feature amazing local artists in their gorgeous space.
As a gallery featuring some of the latest and greatest in Seward and Alaska, they have a robust First Friday turnout that also features great local musicians. They frequently post their seasonal musical and artistic line up on their Facebook page so you know when to head over!
They recently completed a remodel of the interior of the space, including a new soapstone heater.
The wood fire stove is a custom design, including cute benches to sit on and warm up by. The heater and design is from Finland, and complements that Alaskan space beautifully! A great place to curl up by with a cup of tea and a good book.
Their recent renovations included the beautiful belfry area of the old church.
There is extra seating in the second story area, and the views over Seward and Resurrection Bay are stunning. If you come at the right time, it feels positively magical.
The Resurrect Art Coffee House and Gallery is open year round for Alaskan coffee lovers.
They're open for delicious coffee and gorgeous art seven days a week. Catch them anytime from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 320 3rd Avenue., in Seward, Alaska 99664.
