Mmmmm, a warm cup of coffee, a soothing pot of tea. The snow is drifting down outside, Sinatra or some other mellow melody pulses around the room. Maybe you have a couple friends with you, a knitting group, or a bible study even? Perhaps you've brought you current book or favorite internet device...
Does this sound like the perfect Sunday to you? If so, then you've got to go out on a limb, ditch your local spot and check out some of the other amazing coffee houses around Alaska that will make you feel right at home. We promise!
1) Cafe Del Mundo
My favorite cafe in Anchorage has got to be the Cafe Del Mundo. The drinks are always amazing and the atmosphere is so relaxing. There are HUGE tables to spread your work out on or bring a whole study group. Trust me, this cafe is worth a visit!
2) Dark Horse Coffee
Dark Horse Coffee is a close runner up. It's a small cafe tucked into the corner of downtown Anchorage. For your convenience there are computers and a printer for your personal use, and when you're there please try their quiche. It's baked fresh and incredible.
3) The Green Coffee Bean Company
A great local spot in Ketchikan with a lovely atmosphere and a mean cup of joe!
4) McCafferty’s A Coffee House
McCafferty's in Fairbanks is a lovely cafe that almost feels like walking into someone's home. The coffee beans are roasted in-house and there is an extensive selection of baked goods, soups, and chowders. Heck, you can spend all day here!
5) Coppa
Coppa in Juneau will welcome you into its warm arms and surround you with paintings from local artists and big comfy chairs. If you happen to visit in the summer, try their sorbets!
6) Heritage Coffee
Heritage Coffee in Juneau is a busy but cozy place to settle down for the afternoon with a cup of coffee and your laptop or book. There may be a line depending on the time of day, but that just proves that their coffee is great and service is friendly.
7) Side Street Espresso
Last time I went it was cash only, so you may have to hit the ATM but trust me it will be worth it. It can get a little cramped due to its size, but at the right time of day the cafe is a perfect cozy little spot to settle down in and relax.
8) Resurrect Art Coffee House
The Resurrect Art Coffee House is located in an old church in Seward. The atmosphere is as great as you imagine it would be. Cozy, warm, welcoming, and smells like coffee! The locals love this spot and so will you.
Have you been to any of these coffee houses before? What others would you add to this list?
