Spring has arrived, and with it comes the scent of barbecue wafting through the air, accompanied by the thrilling sights and sounds of seaplanes soaring overhead. That’s right, I wrote that correctly. Back for another year in America’s Seaplane Capital, Tavares, is the Planes, Tunes, & BBQ Festival! If you love watching seaplanes take off and land, live music, and delicious BBQ than you’re headed to the right place. This festival taking place at the beloved Wooton Park this spring is perfect for the whole family.

Get ready for an unforgettable experience at the City of Tavares' 16th Annual Planes, Tunes & BBQ event, taking place on March 1 and 2, 2024 at picturesque Wooton Park in Tavares.

Across the state, communities and homeowners come together to create dazzling spectacles of light and color. Notable displays include St. Augustine's Night of Lights, where the city's historic district is decked in millions of twinkling lights. The Santa's Enchanted Forest theme park transforms into a luminous wonderland in Miami. The Edison and Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers host a mesmerizing display, and the Space Coast Lightfest in Melbourne enchants the experience of a drive-through light show. And while these particular light displays are very popular, we've curated a list of a few lesser-known yet some of the best Christmas shows and the best drive-through Christmas lights that are equally as majestic. The best fall festivals in the South are worth the drive. I don’t know about you, but some of my favorite events to attend in Florida happen to take place in autumn. Sure, maybe our weather doesn’t cool down the way it does up north to usher in the season, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still throw down in celebration. Some of the best fall fairs take place from September through November, so get ready to mark your calendars. I’ve curated this list of events to include those near Miami, fall events near Orlando, and so much more. We’ve got a small-town harvest fest and one of the biggest Oktoberfest celebrations in the state.

1. Harvest Holler Corn Maze (Polk City): Sept 17 - Nov. 20, 2024
