If you’re a resident of Miami or have been at some point in the last 30 years, then you’re likely familiar with the sandwich spot La Sandwicherie. With an original location in Miami Beach, La Sandwicherie has been serving the community and late-night locals since 1988. I’ve had many experiences with La Sandwicherie over the years, and most recently, I visited the original spot, which is still as charming as ever. This counter-serve sandwich place isn’t your average deli, and if you’re visiting for the very first time, here are a few tips and tricks before you go.
La Sandwicherie in Miami Beach is a beloved culinary institution, celebrated for its fresh, flavorful sandwiches and casual, counter-serve atmosphere.
Right in the heart of South Beach, this iconic eatery has been delighting locals and tourists alike since 1988, offering a taste of France with a tropical twist.
The menu at La Sandwicherie is centered around their signature sandwiches, which are renowned for their quality and taste. Each sandwich is made to order, using fresh-baked French baguettes or croissants, along with an array of high-quality meats, cheeses, and vegetables.
The Tropical sandwich is bursting with fresh fruits familiar to south Florida. The sandwich contains avocado, mozzarella, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, papaya, mango, and, pineapple. It’s savory and sweet and so refreshing.
What sets these sandwiches apart are two things. First, the veggie toppings, which all come included unless you say so. That means every sandwich will be topped with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, green peppers, hot peppers, black olives, and cornichons, which are French pickles.
The second thing that sets these sandwiches apart is La Sandwicherie's famous French vinaigrette, a tangy and flavorful dressing that perfectly complements the fresh ingredients. Sitting at the counter, the staff placed a fresh bottle of this vinaigrette in front of me, which I used throughout my meal, topping each bite off as I savored.
La Sandwicherie has gained a cult-like following since 1988, especially because of the late-night hours. Staying open until early morning helped to cater to the South Beach crowds looking for a refreshing late-night bite.
Overall, La Sandwicherie embodies the vibrant and diverse culinary scene of Miami Beach. It’s one of my favorite places to dine, because the prices remain true to the customer, while the flavor has never wavered.
