On December 28, 2019, four rare Asian small-clawed otter pups were born into the Jacksonville Zoo in Florida.
Because these pups were so tiny, they needed to be kept behind-the-scenes until they were able to walk around and fend for themselves.
Which is why this past week, the zoo officially announced their birth and provided some epic video footage, too!
It is typical for Asian small-clawed otters to stay in their den with their pups for many weeks, nursing and tending to the newborns.
The pups don’t even open their eyes until they are over a month old, which is when they start to get curious about their surroundings.
These four young pups weigh more than a pound each at 12 weeks and have been acclimating well to their surroundings.
While the otter pups don’t have official names yet, the Jacksonville Zoo is asking fans to vote on names through their website!
