Magnolia Grill has been described as more of a museum that sells food than a restaurant. If you pay a visit to this charming restaurant in Fort Walton Beach, you will immediately understand why.
The home itself is a beautiful example of a 1910 catalog home, ordered more than a century ago by Dr. G.G. French. From the moment you walk in, you will be surrounded by a history lesson at every turn.
The modern-day owners have decorated the walls with black and white photographs and other pieces of local history.
Some of the Fort Walton Beach memorabilia includes traffic signs and street lights, antique typewriters from local writers, and even pins from the town's early bowling alley.
Besides telling the story of Fort Walton Beach, the home is also full of pieces that show what everyday life was like in the 1940s, including an impressive mini military museum located upstairs.
This cozy home makes you feel like you're dining at a relative's house. It's a nice change of pace from chain restaurants that all look pretty much the same.
The menu, prepared by owner Tom Rice, is full of tasty examples of traditional Italian cuisine, seafood and steak dishes. Pictured is the Chicken Parmesan.
As difficult as it might be, you should save a little room for one of the mouthwatering desserts. These decadent cakes and pies (almost) steal the show.
Magnolia Grill is open for lunch and dinner six days a week (closed Sundays), from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. It is located at 157 Brooks St SE, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548.
