The next time you have a free day and want to spend it outdoors in nature, check out Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens, some of the best gardens in Florida.
Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens in Williston, Florida is a truly serene slice of nature that is the perfect way to spend an afternoon.
Just be sure to wear a pair of comfortable sneakers, because you'll be doing plenty of walking!
Founded in January 2014, the actual creation of the garden began over 20 years ago, when Dr. Raymond Webber discovered a century-old retired lime rock quarry.
Webber decided to transform the old swamplands, building the walls of the garden by hand one rock at a time.
To this day, Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens is easily one of the most unique and spectacular botanical gardens in the world.
When you visit, expect to find hundreds of different species of flowers, plants, and so much more.
The trees and topography of the area near the quarry allow for semitropical plants to flourish all year long.
There are also quite a few different types of wildlife to frequent this natural spot, like the songbirds, butterflies, turtles, owls, and doves.
Even a few domestic animals, too, have taken up residence, including cats, dogs, and a pair of beautiful swans.
These Florida botanical gardens also have multiple cascading waterfalls throughout, which make for the perfect scenic backdrop for any photo.
You are even allowed to go under one of the falls, which becomes the best way to cool off from the hot Florida sun.
Visitors can take a self-guided tour through 20-acres of the botanical creations of these enchanting gardens in Florida and see all the natural wonderment up close.
Bring a picnic, bring the kids—guests can stay as long as they’d like in order to capture the true appeal of the gardens.
