Ahh, Florida. You never cease to amaze us with wacky and wonderful things to see and explore. We love that you keep us on our toes and that there never is a dull moment between your state lines. With that said, we have a strange roadside attraction that is worth trekking to. Not only can you check out Big Betsy in Florida on your way to the Keys, but you also can stop and snap some photos with this gargantuan lobster. Take a look...
On your way down to Key West, we recommend making a stop in Islamorada in order to check out the coolest, and wackiest roadside attraction in Florida.
Big Betsy, the giant lobster, can be seen at Rain Barrel Village just off Overseas Highway, and clocks in at around 40 feet long and almost 30 feet tall.
Big Betsy has been a fun tourist spot for many Florida visitors, because really, where else can you find a giant lobster this size within the country?!
The Rain Barrel Village is an artist’s community that visitors can stop over and visit while picking up some breakfast or coffee inside.
You won’t miss it, thanks to the somewhat terrifying massive novelty lobster statue that stands guard outside.
The details of this huge lobster are extremely lifelike—you’ll take note of the spiny shell and the sharp spikes and long antennae.
What was created in the 1980s in order to celebrate the species and the role it plays within the South Florida community, still is a massive hit to this day.

While it once stood perched in the south of the Florida Keys for many years, it moved in 2009 to set up shop in Islamorada and has been there ever since.
On your next trip down to the Keys, make sure to check out this weirdly unique roadside attraction in Florida, and also a top contender for the title of the world’s largest lobster.
