Most Wisconsinites know you can cruise the Mississippi out of La Crosse and take a variety of river cruises in the Dells, but did you know there's a Wisconsin River cruise out of Rhinelander that offers a unique way to see the Northwoods?
Wisconsin River Cruises operates out of Rhinelander and offers a number of different cruise options for folks to get out in to nature, view wildlife and experience the area in a whole new way.
Their boat, the Wilderness Queen, was built specifically for this purpose. The 76-foot long cruiser features an open-air dock up top and an enclosed dining room down below.
Sightseeing cruises last just less than two hours and offer some beautiful scenery.
From bald eagles ...
... to wading birds ...
... to deer, you never quite know what wildlife you might see along the way.
In addition to the sightseeing cruises, they offer a number of other options, including Sunday brunch, Saturday night Prime Rib dinner cruises, Friday night appetizer and happy hour cruises and more.
A version of this cruise has been in existence for more than 30 years and some of the customers have been returning year after year, making this cruise a regular part of their Northwoods vacation. The friendly staff and family atmosphere make this cruise so welcoming.
The cruises run Tuesday through Sunday through August and then switch to weekends only in September and October.
The river cruise is a delightful way to take in the changing leaves in the Fall. Bundle up to sit on the top deck, bring your camera and marvel at the fall colors.
A peaceful, relaxing cruise down the Wisconsin River complete with stunning scenery and wildlife sightings sounds like the absolute perfect way to spend a few hours up north.
The cruise schedule is subject to change. They also host special events, including weddings. Check out the Wisconsin River Cruises website for more information and to make reservations.
