All of these pursuits, and many more, await you in the enchanting and historic town of De Pere.
The riverfront town of De Pere, Wisconsin has a population of 25,000.
If you happen to be on the Riverwalk along the Fox River, or fishing, you could have a unique look at the local wildlife.
Hundreds of pelicans have been known to congregate at the dam, catching fish.
Another way to enjoy the Fox River, since we don’t always have our own boat, is to go on a boat tour.
River Tyme offers a Fox River boat tour on a 1953 riverboat during the summer months.
De Pere is home to St. Norbert College, a private Catholic school founded in 1898.
Catch a game or an event on campus, along with some of the 2,000 students.
You won’t want to miss the Celebrate De Pere festival, if you are in town over Memorial Day weekend.
In 1990, the festival celebrated De Pere’s 100-year anniversary. It is now an annual event. Since 1990, the festival has raised $2,000,000 for charities serving veterans, children, and more. Enjoy the music, the food, the fireworks, and the car show. Take part in the fishing tournament or the Redneck Regatta.
Visit the Oneida Nation Museum to learn about the Oneida and Iroquois cultures, and to walk on the nature trail.
Stop by the De Pere Historical Society too, a museum housed in a building from 1836, with exhibits highlighting De Pere’s history.
And finally, no trip to De Pere is complete without a treat at Seroogy’s, serving up homemade chocolate since 1899.
This is just the tip of the iceberg for De Pere. In addition, there is a comedy club, an art gallery, a cinema, a pottery painting studio, a nature center, and several parks for hiking, biking, and kayaking. And when you need a bite to eat, there are some tempting dining options of course, such as Pasquale’s International Café and Nicolet. You will most definitely want to experience this enchanting and historic town for yourself!
