On a remote mountain in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, sits the community of Snowshoe. As the name suggests, it's a wintery town. The high elevation leads to the winter season lasting approximately 130 days each year. The Village at Snowshoe is a ski resort community, but there is so much to do besides skiing. There are Snowshoe Village shops, restaurants, and more. It's one of the most charming small towns in West Virginia.
Unlike most ski mountain villages, The Village at Snowshoe is at the top of the mountain, rather than the bottom.
Here you'll find lodging, restaurants, shopping, and more.
There's even a little chapel on top of the mountain.
The resort is most popular with skiers, but there are things to do even if you don't like skiing.
There's the Coca-Cola Tube Park if you want some downhill adventure that's a little less athletic.
There are shops like the WV market, which sells arts, crafts, and foods made in West Virginia.
And of course, don't forget dining.
Among many other options, the Old Spruce Tavern is a favorite dining location, serving craft beers, sushi, and sandwiches.
At the top of the ski slopes, you can pick up a special treat at the Waffle Cabin.
A hot, freshly made waffle is sure to warm you up on a snowy day.
If you want an even more unusual culinary experience, the resort offers Adventure Dining.
You can book a trip renting off-road vehicles that will take you to a remote cabin in the woods for a very special dining experience.
