There's no shortage of beautiful little chapels around West Virginia, but this particular little log church is memorable for where it is located.
On the outskirts of Huntington, West Virginia, there's a beautiful log-constructed little chapel.
The chapel can be rented for weddings or events, and special services sometimes take place here.
The most interesting thing about this church is that it's located within a reconstructed early 19th century pioneer village.
This log homestead and surrounding village and farm show what life was like in the pioneer days.
There are animals on the farm, and a petting zoo for children.
Food is cooked the old-fashioned way, and you can enjoy it in the Artisan Cafe.
There's a blacksmith shop with demonstrations.
You can spend the night in the village in one of the log homes, or in a historic caboose.
Although the pioneer village has grown over the years around the church, the wooden cross on the bell tower remains the highest point in the village.
You'll especially want to check out the village this coming December, when the church and homestead are glowing with holiday lights.
Christmas Village will take place on December 2, 3, 9, & 10 from 5-9 PM. The admission fee of $5 will let you enjoy the Holiday Market, live music, and a visit from Santa Claus.
Heritage Farm is open Monday - Saturday 10 AM - 3 PM, (Petting Zoo November-March by appointment only). For more information or to make reservations, call (304) 522-1244.
