There are plenty of ways that you can gear up for the Halloween season here in West Virginia. Some people will kick off the season by shopping around for their costume while others will begin to stock up on all their favorite candy, but if you're looking for something that truly screams Halloween, then look no further. During this time of year, you can't miss out on taking a trip to Kenova's Pumpkin House.
A family tradition for many of us here in West Virginia, Kenova's Pumpkin House is the ultimate Halloween sight to be seen.
A display that began with just a few pumpkins back in 1978, in 2019 you can find Kenova's Pumpkin House decked out with a grand total of 3,000 pumpkins. Woah!
Taking over the home of Kenova's former mayor out by the Ohio River, preparation for the Pumpkin House's final look begins the very first week in October.
Hundreds of volunteers, carpenters, and electricians all come out to the Pumpkin House to help create displays, drill, scoop, rinse, and carve out thousands of pumpkins.
Before you know it, the final weekend of October rolls around and Kenova's Pumpkin House is complete for the annual C-K AutumnFest!
Drawing out upwards of 30,000 people, the event is free to come and check out all the different pumpkins at Kenova's historic home, with even food trucks set up out front.
To view this home that's decorated with thousands of illuminated pumpkins, head to the Kenova Pumpkin House October 25th and 26th to see the place all lit up before it's taken down the day after Halloween!
