The holiday season is upon us, and we couldn't be happier - it's high time for something fun and festive to look forward to! And while many things about the holiday might look a little different this year, here's one long-standing tradition (24 years and counting!) that's not going anywhere: the Bluefield Holiday of Lights. Welcome to one of the best drive-thru holiday lights in West Virginia.
As the rest of America is scraping the last bit of pumpkin pie off their collective Thanksgiving plates, something magical is happening at Lotito City Park in Bluefield, West Virginia.
The lights are coming on.
That's right, beginning Thanksgiving Day and running through New Year's Eve, Bluefield's free drive-through event, Holiday of Lights, lights up the night...and this year is no exception.
This impressive light show blankets the whole park in a festive glow, featuring more than 1.2 million lights of all colors, shapes, and sizes. Half the fun is being constantly surprised and delighted by the new scene you spot around each bend!
The Christmas light display in Lotito City Park comes on at 6:00 p.m. and shines brightly until 9:00 p.m. each Sunday through Thursday. On Fridays and Saturdays, the hours for the light show extend from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
This is a free event, but if you enjoy the experience, donations are appreciated and help keep the lights on and expanding for future events!
The chosen location for the Bluefield Holiday of Lights, Lotito City Park, adds yet another unique component to this one-of-a-kind light show, one that few if any others in the nation can boast: it's a Christmas light display that spans two states!
(The state border between West Virginia and Virginia cuts right through the park.)
So if you need to shine a little light into these long, dark, winter evenings (we know we do!), add an evening excursion to Bluefield to your calendar sometime between Thanksgiving and January 8. It's a guaranteed bright spot to look forward to this winter!
