Harpers Ferry may just be the most haunted town in West Virginia. It was right in the middle of the Civil War conflict, and many soldiers from both sides of the war lived and died here. Some say that they still haunt these streets and homes. O' Be Joyfull historical tours and entertainment will take you on a tour through the town and tell you their stories.
The tour meets on the steps of historic St. Peter's Catholic Church.
Address: 110 Church St., Harpers Ferry, WV, 25425. The church itself is rumored to be haunted after serving as a hospital during the Civil War.
Arrive at the church by 7:45 PM to get your tickets for the tour. At 8 PM, the tour will begin.
The guide will then lead the group through the streets of Harpers Ferry.
This alley is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of Dangerfield Newby, a back man who was brutally killed and left here to be eaten by hogs. He's said to be looking for his family, who were kept as slaves.
You'll stop by homes and other historic places and hear the stories of the ghost who may wander here.
You might even experience some paranormal activity firsthand.
Visitors say the scariest part of the tour is returning to their cars alone, after hearing about all the ghosts that may wander here.
Tours take place every evening, but will be closed Saturday, December 17th, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, and New Years Eve & New Years Day. Dress warmly for the weather in the winter. The tour takes about an hour and a half and costs $14.00 per person, $10.00 per child 8 to 12 years of age, and no charge for well behaved children under 8 years of age.
