Heritage Farm is a 19th-Century Appalachian Village consisting of several museums and authentic log buildings. It's located near Huntington, West Virginia, and is open to the public on a regular basis for historic tours. But it's not just historic tours this pioneer village offers; come December, the farm transforms into a magical, delightful Christmas Village that showcases all the best of an Appalachian holiday season.
There are so many reasons to visit the Heritage Farm Christmas Village with your friends or family this year.
For starters, the entire village will be decked out with thousands upon thousands of Christmas lights.
There will be a live nativity drama of the Christmas story with real people, real sheep, and even a real donkey (note that an ASL interpreter will be interpreting the drama into sign language).
Santa will be there. Mrs. Claus will be there. Santa's elves will be there (and they can help you make Christmas ornaments!).
Frosty the snowman will be there.
And of course, we absolutely cannot forget to mention this highlight: the jingle wagon will be up and running! This fan-favorite tractor ride is an unforgettable way to ring in the holiday season.
A ride on the jingle wagon takes you through a covered bridge, around the animal loop, and past all the best Christmas lights.
What's more, in addition to all these fabulous reasons to attend the Heritage Farm Christmas Village, here are a few more: Christmas carols will be filling the air. You'll have the opportunity to make, decorate, and eat Christmas cookies. You can shop at the Heritage Farm gift shop for some last-minute gifts.
All this and more will be available for a limited time only during the first two weekends of December, and spots are limited, so hurry over to the Heritage Farm website or Facebook page to check dates and snag your tickets to the Heritage Farm Christmas Village event. Love Christmas in West Virginia? Don't forget to add a visit to some of West Virginia's best light shows to your holiday bucket list!
