Why stay indoors this winter when you could be out hitting the slopes? A day on the mountain is always a great idea, and our state's largest ski and snowboarding resort is always an epic choice if you're ready for a snowy adventure.

3. Score some amazing gifts at the Pacific Arts Holiday Market in Bellingham.

Forget big box stores! Our state is home to dozens of talented artists who sell their handcrafted items at holiday bazaars around Christmastime, like this long-running spot north of Seattle. No matter how hard it is to shop for those people who seem to have everything, you'll definitely be able to find one-of-a-kind gifts at this charming market.

4. Make a cabin getaway at Iron Springs Resort in Copalis Beach.

6. Visit Palouse Falls Park to see what our state's official waterfall looks like completely frozen.

There are a lot of spectacular waterfalls to see in our state during the winter, but this magnificent feature in southeastern Washington is by far one of the most breathtaking. The cascade lies on the Palouse River and drops an incredible 198 feet.

9. View a dazzling display at the Garden d'Lights in Bellevue.

If you think our state's botanical gardens are stunning during the regular season, wait until you see them covered in dozens of lights for the holidays! This remarkable holiday display can be seen at the Bellevue Botanical Garden every year, typically from November-December.

10. Head out for a trip across Puget Sound via the Argosy Christmas Ship Cruise.

If you're dreaming of making a getaway this season, this is a wonderful Northwest tradition to experience! This ship has been around since 1949. Every year, it sails to several Puget Sound waterfront communities where there are thousands of people on shore celebrating with bonfires and anticipating the ship's arrival.
