Nearly every city in Washington, big or small, has a beloved shopping district or village. In the city of Kirkland, where Costco was born, that place is the Village at Totem Lake. While this isn't the only shopping center in town, it's certainly the most up-and-coming one. From small local businesses to larger chains, you'll find a little bit of everything here—and the food scene is decadent and delightful as well.
The Village at Totem Lake is located at 11901 NE Village Plaza in Kirkland, not far from an I-405 Exit.
It's conveniently located, easy to spot, and growing by the day.
The shopping center mainly consists of retail spaces and entertainment, but it's also a high-end residential area.
This is the ultimate gathering place for locals to live, shop, dine, and play.
This place was originally called the Totem Lake Center, followed by the Totem Lake Mall.
Ground was broken on the mall in 1972, with stores opening the following year. But by the mid-1990s, stores were moving out, and the area was in serious decline.
In early 2015, Totem Lake Mall was sold to Village at Totem Lake LLC, a joint venture between CenterCal and PCCP, LLC.
Two years and $200 million later, the Village at Totem Lake was born. Today, this 400,000 square foot shopping space is a very desirable destination.
Aside from an abundance of shops, the Village at Totem Lake has two high end grocery stores, Whole Foods and Trader Joe's.
You'll also find plenty of places to pamper yourself, like Yuan Spa and Anthony Vince Nail Spa. And Cinemark Totem Lake has a large selection of movies to choose from.
If you visit the village, come hungry—the food options are practically endless.
Savor pasta from Due Cucina, grab a burger from Stack 571, or slurp noodles at Silverlake Ramen. Serious Pie, owned by James Beard award-winning restauranteur Tom Douglas, is also opening here soon.
The Village at Totem Lake is a fantastic place to spend an afternoon.
You can leave with cosmetics, books, gourmet dog treats, a dazzling new outfit, and Salt & Straw ice cream, all without leaving one confined area.
