It's always the right time to year to think up some ideas for yourself and that special someone. If you're tired of the same old typical dinner and a movie routine, here are a few romantic date ideas in Washington state to inspire your next unforgettable evening.
1. Take them out for a charming picnic.
With so many breathtaking parks surrounding us, there are plenty of great spots to have an outdoor feast with your other half. Pictured is Wenatchee Confluence Park, which features over 70 picnic tables and a romantic site by the water.
2. Go for a relaxing day cruise, like on the Deception Pass Tours.
It's a perfect, out-of-the-ordinary way to kick back and relax with your date, all while enjoying the striking view underneath Deception Pass Bridge.
3. Challenge them to a round of mini golf.
If you're looking for fun dates ideas in Washington state, Icicle Village Resort in Leavenworth offers an amazing Bavarian-themed 18-hole course where you two can hit it off. There are great views, too!
4. Explore a beautiful botanical garden.
Instead of surprising them with a bouquet, take them for a stroll through a stunning public garden to leave them smitten. Pictured is the lovely botanical garden in Bellevue. Read about more gardens in Washington.
5. Take a cozy train ride with them somewhere.
The Amtrak Cascades have European-style trains that run along a 467-mile rail corridor, spanning the entire Pacific Northwest including some stops down in Oregon, too. They have seven train sets, each named after a mountain in the Northwest: Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, Mt. Hood, Mt. Baker, Mt. Olympus, Mt. Jefferson and Mt. Bachelor. In our state, you can get on board in any of the following cities: Vancouver, Kelso/Longview, Centralia, Olympia/Lacey, Tacoma, Tukwila, Seattle, Edmonds, Everett, Stanwood, Mount Vernon and Bellingham.
6. Go for a tasting in Washington's wine country.
No matter where you go in the Walla Walla area, you'll be able to taste some exquisite selections. Walla Walla Vintners in particular makes some award-winning red wines like their 2013 Columbia Valley Malbec, as well as Seven Hills Winery and El Corazon Winery. This is one extra romantic date idea in Washington.
7. Spend a day exploring the rainforest with them.
For a memorable adventure, you two can hike along the 10 miles worth of well-maintained, interconnecting trails in the Quinault or take one of their fascinating tours offered year-round.
8. Or take them to see one of our state's many jaw-dropping waterfalls.
Pictured is Madison Creek Falls, a horsetail-shaped cascade that flows near the Elwha River, west of Port Angeles. Luckily, the path to the falls is short, paved, and wheelchair accessible, so everyone can enjoy its splendor. Waterfalls in Washington are simply gorgeous.
9. Show them how deep you are by taking them to a local art gallery or museum.
It's free to visit the Frye Art Museum in Seattle, where you two can admire a stunning collection of 19th & 20th century American, German, and French paintings. It's located in the First Hill neighborhood near downtown and Capitol Hill.
10. Stay overnight in a charming cottage by the beach.
Seabrook Cottages provide a quiet, peaceful place for couples to relax right by the Pacific Ocean. You won't be far from the beach where you can go for a long, romantic walk and catch the sunset together in the evening.
11. Drive up for a cinematic adventure.
Regular theaters may not be very romantic, but pulling up to one of our classic Washington drive-in theaters can definitely make for a charming evening. We still have a number of drive-in theaters showing films around the state, located in Oak Harbor (open year-round), and seasonal options in Port Townsend, Colville, Shelton and Port Orchard. Taking a step back in a time is a sweet date idea in Washington.
12. Or head out for a scenic road trip.
While on the road, you and your significant other can both enjoy taking in all of the breathtaking scenery that Washington has to offer. Pictured is White Pass Scenic Byway, which connects Yakima County and Lewis County by crossing over the beautiful Cascade mountains.
