If you are a true book lover then you know you can never have too many titles stacked up waiting to be read. Restock your shelves by taking the Vermont Bookshop Hop to visit some of the best bookstores in the Green Mountain State.
To cut down on driving time, we have concentrated on bookstores in the middle and northern part of Vermont. This makes the excursion just over four hours in driving time and manageable (with plenty of book browsing time) to complete in a weekend road trip.

1. The Eloquent Page - 70 N Main St., St Albans City
Located in beautiful St. Albans City, this traditional bookstore carries over 35,000 titles. Find everything from fashion to history and most other topics you can imagine at The Eloquent Page. Be sure to also check out their collection of vintage postcards during your visit.
2. Crow Bookshop - 14 Church St., Burlington
Find floor to ceiling books at Crow's Bookshop in the Church Street Marketplace. Stocking a variety of new and used books, this store has been serving the local community since 1995. All new adult hardcover books are 20% off every day, so you can score plenty of bargains here.
3. Speaking Volumes - 377 Pine St., Burlington
Also in Burlington, you'll find Speaking Volumes, an eclectic and colorful bookshop loaded with treasures. Discover bargains by the bucket full at this shop. If you're interested in vintage vinyl visit their sister shop right down the street that's chock full of records.
4. Monroe Street Books - 1485 US-7, Middlebury
Monroe Street Books is one of the largest used bookstores in Vermont and its 100,000 volumes on shelves prove it. This shop may be inconspicuous on the outside but what lies within is spectacular. Browse for hours but don't forget to check out the $1 book bin.
5. Otter Creek Used Books - 99 Maple Street Historic MarbleWorks, Middlebury
Find Otter Creek Used Books at the Historic Marble Works. You'll find a large collection of used books and an owner with a helpful and friendly air at this bookshop. Take your time to uncover plenty of hidden gems.
6. The Bookmobile - 17 Center St., Rutland
This shop was named for the magical feeling you used to get stepping onto the bookmobile as you find the perfect title. Shelf after shelf of used books assures that you'll find your next great read inside The Bookmobile. Browse the selection of cards and book-related gifts and treat yourself to something special.
7. Sandy's Books and Bakery - 30 N. Main St., Rochester
You're in for a real treat at Sandy's Bookshop and Bakery. Munching on fresh baked goods while being surrounded by books is like being in Heaven for a book lover. This one-stop shop to fill your tummy and your reader's soul is a must-visit.
8, Bear Pond Books - 77 Main St., Montpelier
Bear Pond Books has been serving bibliophiles since 1973 in the state's capital. Discover new and used books covering every subject under the rainbow at this independent shop. You'll also enjoy book signings and author visits on a regular basis at this spot.
