If you're not afraid of things that go bump in the night, or footsteps, apparitions, voices, and unexplained phenomena, then a stay at one of these haunted hotels in Vermont should be right up your alley. The following stories have been reported by many folks over the years. Many people believe they aren't true. If in fact, they aren't, then why do so many people have the same ghostly experiences?
Room 302 is the most haunted at this downtown Stowe hotel. Boots Berry, the tap-dancing ghost, was born in this room and died above it when he rescued a little girl on the roof during a snowstorm. Tap dancing can be heard coming from the roof on snowy nights.

Abraham Lincoln’s wife, Mary Todd, and their children still wander around this hotel where they summered long ago. This is said to be the most haunted hotel in all of Vermont.
3. Back Inn Time Bed & Breakfast
When checking in at the Back Inn Time Bed & Breakfast, be sure to ask for Lora Weaver's room. She lived there until she died at the age of 30 and reportedly still resides in her room.
Room 20 is haunted by a woman who died in the room, but the ghostly sightings aren't isolated to it. She also makes occasional appearances in the dining room donning a dark formal dress, but don't worry, she never bothers anyone.

5. Comfort Inn
Even the chain hotels aren't immune when it comes to ghosts. A woman who committed suicide in room 112 still haunts it. The electronic key works sporadically, and when you're allowed in the room, you have the feeling that someone is watching you.
Margaret Spencer died in room two and it is said that she still haunts it to this very day. If you're kept up all night by your fright, you have something incredible to look forward to. The breakfasts are to die for!
7. Golden Stage Inn Bed and Breakfast
Go and meet George, the friendly ghost who loves to play pranks on the innkeepers. In fact, the innkeepers became so familiar with this ghost who appeared in a cloak and wide-brimmed hat that it was them who named him George. Well, they had to call him something.
Don't be surprised when the late-night (and loud) merrymakers wake you up while checking in. You may hear them discussing the party they attended that evening, but guess what? You'll learn the next morning that no one checked in at all.
Cold spots, doors slamming, and visible apparitions have been reported here, but the most disturbing report was from a guest woken up by an elderly woman who said "One Mrs. Brown in this room is quite enough!" Guess what the guest's last name was? Yep! Brown.
