Throw on some lederhosen and get ready to have a blast at Wurstfest in New Braunfels, Texas. Held annually in November, this highly anticipated fall festival celebrates the town's rich German heritage. Guests enjoy sausage, beer, polka music, carnival rides and games, and so much more.
Tucked away in the scenic Texas Hill Country, the charming town of New Braunfels has a rich German heritage dating back hundreds of years.
Every November, people travel from all over the country to see that vibrant culture on full display at the annual Wurstfest.
Wurstfest began in 1961, and it just keeps on getting better year after year.
Attendees of the 10-day celebration can expect to sing, dance, eat, drink, enjoy rides and games, and learn a thing or two about German culture along the way.
The entertainment lineup is always stacked, with polka music, yodelers, orchestras, accordion players, and more.
Even if you've never danced to these types of music before, I think you'll find it impossible not to at least tap your feet to the catchy tunes.
Of course, there will be plenty of delicious food to go around.
Sausage is the star of the show here - it's served on a stick and is, quite possibly, one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. Don't miss out on the Bavarian pretzels, either!
A steady supply of beer includes German, Texan, and domestic varieties, so there's something for just about everyone.
Dressing the part is optional, but it definitely makes things more fun.
So throw on your finest lederhosen and get ready to have a great time.
All information about the festival, including this year's dates, hours, and ticket prices, can be found on the Wurstfest website or the Wurstfest Facebook page.
Prost!
Parking is adjacent to the festival, but spots are limited. You may want to consider riding on the Wurstwagen, a shuttle that picks up from local accommodations and the area Park & Ride.
