Houston, we have a...quirky roadside attraction? Next time you find yourself on NASA Parkway, check out the larger-than-life astronaut posted up in front of McDonald's Nassau Bay. This fun photo-op is so worth pulling over for - it just might be one of the best roadside attractions in Texas! If you love the wacky and weird like I do, you'll love this one!
Nassau Bay is a small city of around 5,000 in the Clear Lake area of Houston, just outside the city proper. It is a fairly affluent suburb, with beautiful homes overlooking the pristine lake waters.
The city is best known for its adjacency to the Johnson Space Center, a 100-building complex that serves as NASA's center for human spaceflight. Nassau Bay is also only about a mile away from Space Center Houston, the official Visitor Center for the Johnson Space Center. So seeing a giant astronaut in Texas should not be surprising. However, you might be surprised by this one ...
While there are plenty of photo-ops to choose from inside Space Center Houston, a free roadside attraction outside of a McDonald's Nassau Bay just might be the quirkiest of them all.
A larger-than-life astronaut (holding a box of fries, no less) stands - or floats, rather - tall and proud in front of the restaurant, garnering looks from anyone who passes by. These McDonald's Nassau Bay photos are certainly a sight to see.
Nassau Bay encourages locals and visitors alike to stop by and check out this out-of-this-world (pun intended) sight. Don't forget your camera - you'll definitely want to snap some McDonald's Nassau Bay photos for posterity's sake.
McDonald's Nassau Bay is located off Nasa Parkway. Remember, use caution both behind the wheel and on foot when enjoying the attraction!
