Here in Texas, we drink Dr Pepper like it's water. That's okay, though - we're just showing pride for our home state! You see, the beloved soda was invented right here in Waco. The 1906 bottling plant where it all started is now a Dr Pepper museum, and it's begging for you to visit!
Housed in the 1906 Artesian Manufacturing and Bottling Company building in downtown Waco, the Dr Pepper Museum & Free Enterprise Institute is a must-visit for soda lovers.
Check out this vintage photo of the bottling room - also known as the place where the magic happened.
The museum is dedicated to all things Dr Pepper, which happens to be the nation's oldest major soft drink.
Visitors can make their way through three floors of exhibits. The displays are ever-changing, but common themes include vintage Dr Pepper memorabilia and simulations of the original bottling process.
You'll even see some of the very first ad campaigns for the soda. If only you could still get a can for five cents!
Another point of interest is a replica of the Old Corner Drug Store, the place where Dr Pepper was first invented in 1885. The world-famous 23 flavor concoction started here, and the bottling plant made it available to the masses.
While the museum is primarily focused on Dr Pepper, it also features information about the histories of other popular soft drink brands.
Don't leave without stopping by the soda fountain and gift shop! After all, the museum is the home of the Dr Pepper float. It just tastes better here!
There are plenty of photo ops scattered throughout the museum, including this 1940s Dr Pepper delivery truck. Don't forget your camera!
